International Women’s Day – March 8 🌸 International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world, while also reminding us of the continuing journey toward true gender equality. The origins of this day go back to the early 20th-century labor movement. In 1908, nearly 15,000 women garment workers marched through the streets of New York City, demanding shorter working hours, better pay, and the right to vote. Their courage became a powerful symbol of women standing up for their rights. In 1910, at an international conference in Copenhagen, German activist Clara Zetkin proposed the idea of an annual International Women’s Day. More than 100 women from 17 countries supported the idea, planting the seeds for a global movement.
